Born in Cádiz on 14 April 1995 Juan José Camacho Pérez ‘Catela’ made his professional debut with nearby team Jérez 1993, before earning his big break with D-Link Zaragoza in 2013/14. However, he never got to make his debut for a club that was dissolved soon after.

He arrived as a free agent in March 2022 and in his first season he won the Spanish Super Cup and the Copa del Rey. By the following campaign, Catela was key figure in a side that won the Spanish Cup and was named player of the match in the final.

During the 2024/25 season, following an excellent series of displays, Catela suffered a serious knee injury in the semi-final of the Spanish Cup against Peñiscola.

With the Spanish national side he was a youth international before making his debut for the senior side in 2016 at the age of 21. Catela continued to be a part of squad at Valdepeñas and during his time at Barça he played in the 2024 World Championships.
