He became first coach of Barça after 36 years of experience as a coach and after 12 seasons at Can Barça

Born in Vigo and raised in Hospitalet, Castro arrived at Barça in 2005 after gaining extensive experience in youth roller hockey starting in 1981. He was manager of Vilafrance between 2001 and 2003 and was then the assistant coach at Noia Freixenet during two separate periods (1998-2001 and 2003-2005).

He arrived at Barça for the 2005/06 season and was the coach of the youth side for five seasons in which he won five Campionats de Catalunya and two Campeonatos de España. At the start of the 2010/11 season he became assistant coach for Ferran Pujalte’s first team. He then took on his current role of technical secretary for the roller hockey academy in 2011. In March 2013, Ricard Muñoz replaced Gaby Cairo as first team coach and Edu Castro returned as the assistant coach for the following four-and-a-half seasons.

Up until now, he has been the number two and the technical secretary for the academy, but he has accepted the position of first team coach and will be the new number one at the Palau. The new manager signed a contract for one year, with an option of another, on 6 June 2017.
