Luciano Gauna joined Barça’s futsal team in the summer of 2025 from Peñíscola, having already made his mark as one of the sport’s biggest rising stars of recent years. After five seasons with the Castellón-based club, Gauna established himself a player who is quick off the mark, a skilful dribbler and blessed with superb vision.
A product of Social Lynch in Buenos Aires Province, he moved to Pinocho Futsal in 2019. Following an impressive debut campaign in Argentina’s top division, the 19-year-old made the leap to Peñíscola in the summer of 2020.
Already an Argentina U20 international (and having won his first senior cap in a friendly) Gauna began to earn minutes in Spain’s Liga Nacional. Season by season he grew in stature, culminating in a breakout 2024/25 campaign.
He finished runner-up with Argentina at both the Copa América in Paraguay (February 2024) and the World Cup in Uzbekistan (October 2024). Back at club level he led Santi Valladares’ Peñíscola side to the 2025 Copa de España title in Murcia, where he was voted tournament MVP, and was a key figure in their first-place finish at the end of the regular league season.
That form caught Barça’s eye. The club signed him as a young, talented, game-changing player with a huge future ahead of him.
