The most prolific Ronald Araujo is back. With his decisive goal against Rayo Vallecano, the Uruguayan now has three league goals and one in the Copa del Rey, equalling his most productive season for goals, which was 2021/22. What’s more, his goals have always come at key moments to secure victories.
Big goals
The defender knows how to step up when it matters, and his goals have helped earn points and progress in knockout ties. His first of the season came against Real Oviedo in the league, sealing the final 3-1 win with a header.
His second arrived three games later when he came off the bench against Girona at Montjuïc and, with the instincts of a natural striker, found the net in the 93rd minute to make it 2–1.
In the Copa del Rey, Araujo was on target again against Albacete in the quarter-finals, heading home for 2-0 in a match that ended 2-1.
His latest goal came against Rayo in a very tough game, decided once again by a header to secure three hugely valuable points in the title race.
79% from headers
Looking at the overall numbers, Araujo has scored 14 goals in 205 appearances for Barça. Six of those have put the team ahead on the scoreboard.
Notably, 11 of his 14 goals (79%) have come from headers, clear evidence of his aerial power and threat.
Two short of Ronaldinho
Ronald Araujo is already in the Top 10 of players from the Americas with the most appearances in Barça history. He is now just two matches away from a legend as great as Ronaldinho, who played 207 times.
If he surpasses the Brazilian, which he almost certainly will do, he will move up to eighth in the chart!
