Born in Gavà on 9 September 1972, Xavi Pascual developed as a coach in different Catalan clubs, before joining FC Barcelona as the development side coach for the 2004/05 season in the Liga EBA. In 2005, he moved to the first team to become assistant coach to Dusko Ivanovic until 14 February 2008.
That day Pascual took on the blaugrana first team coach role, staying for eight years until June 2016. The spell produced 19 trophies: a EuroLeague (2009/10), four Liga ACBs (08/09, 10/11, 11/12 and 13/14), three Copa del Reys (2010, 2011 and 2013), four Super Cups (2009, 2010, 2011 and 2015) and seven Lliga Catalanas in a row (2009 to 2015).
There's more to his first spell than just trophies though, as his groups proved very consistent in their performance, shown by having reached nine consecutive Liga finals, five EuroLeague Final Fours, along with six Copa del Rey finals and seven consecutive Super Cup finals.
Pascual went on to different experiences since leaving the Club in 2016, all in European basketball. He first coached Panathinaikos from October 2016 to December 2018, winning two leagues and one Greek cup. He then went on to coach Zenit Saint Petersburg from February 2020 to June 2025, winning a league, a cup and two Super Cups during his time in Russia.
Nine seasons later, Pascual returned to the Club in November 2025 to take over from Joan Peñarroya on the Palau Blaugrana bench.
