The second day of the Barça in the US tour included a very special announcement for the Barça Academy program, with Spotify, already FC Barcelona’s Main Partner, also becoming the name that will appear on the Barça Academy Pro shirts in the United States, namely those in Miami and New York, as well as the Barça Residency Academy USA. The announcement was made on the grounds of Barça Academy Pro Miami, attended by the vice-president for the commercial area, Juli Guiu, the Spotify's Head Arstist and Label Partnerships for Latam and US Latin, Maykol Sánchez, and the legends Thierry Henry and Juliano Belletti, who gave a soccer class to some of the children from the school. Barça Academy Pro Miami is the very venue where Robert Lewandowski will be welcomed to the tour as a new Barça player.
This agreement with Spotify, which offers the most popular audio streaming platform in the world, follows the one on July 1 whereby the Swedish company became FC Barcelona’s Main Partner and Official Audio Streaming Partner. The deal, based on the club’s core values of talent promotion among current and future generations, and fostering the club’s distinct style of play, means that 1,200 boys and girls at Barça Academy Pro Miami and New York, as well as the Barça Residency Academy USA, will be wearing the Spotify name on the front of their jerseys. The agreement also entails some of the club’s international academies offering assets to promote the visibility of Spotify, as well as the option of using their facilities for holding events and classes in the future.
The day at Barça Academy Pro Miami, at Pace High School (Miami Gardens), was rounded off with a Barça Academy Clinic with Barça Legend Juliano Belletti, who spent two hours on the pitch with 290 boys and girls aged 7 to 16 years.
About Barça Academy Proand Barça Residency Academy USA
Barça Academy Pro Miami is one of the club’s two soccer schools in the USA, the other one being in New York. The schools are 100% owned and managed by FC Barcelona, thus ensuring control over the financial and sporting aspects of the program. They are run by technical coordinators who spent several years training at Ciutat Esportiva Joan Gamper, and whose role is to export the same methodology and values observed in the club’s own youth system.
Barça Residency Academy USA is a soccer academy at Casa Grande (Arizona) that coaches young elite footballers along similar lines to La Masia. This residence for players aged between 13 and 19 years is focused on fostering sporting excellence and has produced players that have gone on to star in top international leagues, such as MLS, LaLiga and Bundesliga, and including Bryce Duke (Inter Miami FC) and Caden Clark (New York Red Bulls), who will be getting to face the senior FC Barcelona team this month as part of its US tour.
FC Barcelona currently has 30 Barça Academies around the world, eight of them in the United States (Barça Academy Pro Miami, Barça Academy Pro New York, Barça Residency Academy USA, Barça Academy Austin, Barça Academy Carolinas, Barça Academy Chicago, Barça Academy Columbus and Barça Academy Orlando), followed by Japan with five and India with four.
