Neymar Jr: We will give absolutely everything against PSG

The Brazilian striker is happy with the team's performance against Celta and sees a great game ahead on Wednesday in the Champions League

On the night that Neymar scored a spectacular chip in the 5-0 win over Celta at Camp Nou, the Brazilian gave his opinion on Barça’s performance after the final whistle. “I am happy with the win and for how we played. I see us on the up and with confidence. On Wednesday we are going to play really well. Against PSG we will run and fight and then we will see what happens,” said the blaugrana number 11.

For Neymar the victory bodes well for the challenge ahead at Camp Nou on Wednesday against the French Champions: “It’s really important that our spirit is on the way up and our confidence too.”

“We will go out to play football and be happy on the field, that is the Barça philosophy.”

On an individual level the Brazil international believes that he is in good form at the moment: “I think it’s my best season at Barça. Both myself and the team are getting better and that is important.”

Luis Enrique’s decision to leave Barça at the end of the season brought this reply from the striker. “It’s sad because he is someone we have a lot of affection for. We have been with him for three seasons and we have a lot of faith in him. We wish him the best in life. He knows what is best for him and we are just happy with how he has helped us in the last few years in which we have won so many trophies,” Neymar confessed.

Post-game reactions from coach Luis Enrique and from some of Neymar’s team mates:

Luis Enrique:

"It was one of our best games of the season and the best of the last two months. And it came at the best time, with the end of the season approaching.  This game was a huge boost for us.”

“I couldn’t have scripted two better games for the build-up to PSG. Not just because of the goals but because of how we got them. This is the best we have ever played against Celta, a team that has always made things difficult for us.”

A lot of things could have influenced the game. Today we were very efficient with our passing. The strikers gave us strong options to combine with the midfield, and the midfield were able to advance into attack. And the key playmakers all had the better of their markers, and generated lots of chances.”

“Celta are a difficult opponent for teams like us that like to play combination football and govern the game. Their man-marking in defence is never easy to deal with.”

“Against PSG we will have the chance to get back into the tie, and we’ll keep going until the very last breath. We know that the fans will be behind us, and we have reason to believe. We’ll try to create the kind of atmosphere where the supporters can help us more than usual.”

“Our challenge is to show that we can be better than PSG. It will be difficult, but I have indestructible faith that we can play great and get right back into contention.”

“I have always felt appreciated. From the very first day that I arrived at this club, I have always had the fans’ support, and I’m grateful for their shows of affection.”

Ivan Rakitic

“We have always had confidence in the coach and his decision has not changed anything. Perhaps it will bring calm for the coach and the Club, but it’s the same as ever for us, we have always believed in the boss.”

“We will see what happens against PSG..We are very grateful to the fans and what we can say is that we will give everything from the first minute to the last. Let’s hope there is a miracle.”

Samuel Umtiti

“I am delighted to have scored my first goal of the season.”

“The game against PSG will be different but we have to play like we did tonight.”

“We have to respect the decision of Luis Enrique. I am sad but we have to respect it. I am grateful to him because in part I am here because of him.”

Sergi Roberto

“We are with Luis Enrique till the death, even if he is leaving. We are still in three competitions and we have to fight until the end. For him and the way he works, he will give everything until the end and we want to do the same for him.”
