Martín Montoya joins Inter Milan on loan

The right back will join the Italian club for a season and if he should play a certain number of matches, the loan agreement will be extended for another year

The FC Barcelona player Martín Montoya Torralbo has been loaned to the Italian club FC Internazionale Milano for one season.

The two clubs have agreed that the loan contract shall be automatically renewed for a further season if the player appears in a certain number of games. At the end of the second season, Inter shall retain an option to sign the player on a permanent basis.

The Managing Commission has approved the player loan to FC Internazionale Milano after receiving a positive report from the Club’s Technical Committee.

Three seasons and 66 matches

25 year old Martín Montoya is leaving Barça after three seasons in the first team, and having made 66 first team appearances and scored two goals. He first joined the club at the age of eight and rose up through the youth ranks to finally make his first team debut in the 2010/11 season under Pep Guardiola and became a full member of the team the season after.

In 2012/13, he played 23 games in all competitions, his most active season yet. He also played 19 games in 2013/14, and 12 in the season just ended. In this time he has won two Ligas, one Champions League, one Spanish Cup and one Spanish Super Cup. Martín Montoya has also been picked to play for both Catalonia and Spain.
